DAY SIXTEEN - 28/02/2006
Tonight on the biggest loser we were tempted with the promise of a soccer match to find out who from the blue team will be joining the red team to even up numbers on the sides. The winner of the soccer team will choose who from the blue team will join the reds.
Wal moves out of the blue bedroom due to Harry's persistant snoring. Harry admits that he does have a problem with snoring. Harry said that Wal normally sleeps on the couch or on the floor in the red bedroom because of Harry's snoring. Wal said he is suffering and his body is suffering from lack of sleep.
The vision changed to the contestants leaving the house, both teams were packed into their vans and shipped to Aussie Stadium. Both teams were lead from the tunnel together and AJ was standing in the centre of the field next to a trophy and a soccer ball.
The red team and the blue team were about to battle it out in "The Loser World Cup." Bob and Jillian were special guest goalies for this challenge. Jillian said in an interview with the camera that she felt like she was in the movie "Any Given Sunday" and it was fantastic. Bob said to the camera that he felt fantastic and was looking forwarding to playing his first soccer game... in Australia.
Only four members of the blue team could play, Cat and Tracy decided upon themselves to sit out when the blue team were asked to have two people sit out.
Bob was mad he was about to lose a team member, he said in the history of the television program, noone has switched sides. Wal also said in an interview with the camera, that this was a twist they were not expecting.
AJ next introduced Dwight York and Mark Ruden from the Sydney Football Club. Mark was to be the blue team's coach. Dwight York was going to be the coach of the red team. Dwight's advice to his team was to have fun and not to worry about the match too much. Mark's advice to the blue team was to attack. Bob at this point admitted he had never played soccer before.
Sydney FC's coach was to be the referee for today's match. Adro took a long kick from the centre at the goals, he missed to the left. After posession was stolen by Shane from the blue team, Adro kicked the ball from off of the side of his boot to kick the first goal. Wal took the ball down the blue team's end and kicked a goal. Adro responded by kicking a goal from the centre of the ground, the ball drifted into the goal.
Dwight got in trouble from the referee for venturing on the ground. From a throw in, Wal headed the ball and Adro kicked the ball over his head. Dwight again got in trouble for wandering onto the field, this time getting a yellow card. Wal took another shot at goal and scored. Adro next had the ball at the other end of the ground and hit Harry with the ball when he kicked for goal. Harry wasn't impressed.
Half time. The coaches both had their teams in a huddle and the teams swapped ends. Bob kicked a goal from the other end of the ground and the ball bounced past Jillian. Adro scored another goal in response. Adro next scored another goal after stealing the ball from Harry.
Ruth was sent off the ground for handling the ball with her hands. Harry took the penalty shot at goal and missed. Three seconds remained, Wal had a chance to score again with a header from a corner, he missed and the ball went over the top of the goals. GAME OVER... red win the match 4 goals to 3.
Christie said in a chat with the camera that she couldn't understand why soccer players carry on after winning a match, and after playing today's match she can now understand.
Bob said he was upset he lost the match. Bob also said that he was always going to be a loser today as he would be losing a member of the blue team. The red team were instructed to choose a blue team member to join their team. The red team invited Wal to join the red team. Bob said he was sad that Bob was leaving. Jillian said she will make Wal fall into line with her training ethos.
Tomorrow night on the show, we are looking forward to seeing Wal train with Jillian and the red team. We also will be looking forward to the next temptation challenge.
DAY FIFTEEN - 27/02/2006 - 2nd ELIMINATION
Tonight we began the show with a replay starting from the weighing of Christie in the red team. As we know, Christie failed in her quest to try and beat the red team.
The thoughts of the red team were aired with each having an interview with the camera as the visioned showed them walking out of the room. Most of the women in the red team seemed peeved that they didn't get to vote Shane off who now has immunity from elimination being the Biggest Loser on the losing side.
The blue team were happy with their efforts. Fiona is uncomfortable with her place in the blue team. The blue team celebrated their win with a dip in their spa.
The red team chilled out in their quarters. Adro said never before has he felt bad about losing two kilograms, with a disappointed look on his face. All of the red team agreed with how much that it "bites" to lose.
The red team gave their reasons to the camera as to why they should stay on another week. Each of the contestants gave a response based on the same theme that they dont feel that they have yet achieved enough.
The camera showed the various alliances that were forming as the contestants sat down with each other in the garden and talked about who they might vote out. Adro and Shane discussed whether to vote out Ruth or Jo. Jo and Chrisie decided to vote out Adro. Jo said to the camera in an interview that she isn't ready to leave as she was only half-out of her cocoon and still had more personal development until she was ready.
Jo said that she really respects Christie and Ruth. Christie said to the camera in an interview this game is based on deceit and sometimes doing things to get your own way.
The red team carried their votes with silver domes into the elimination room.AJ welcomed the red team to the room. AJ asked Adro who he can trust and Adro responded with a diplomatic answer. Ruth was asked how she would feel to go back into the real world. Christie was asked why she deserves to still be in the house since she failed her team. Shane was asked how he feels to have immunity, Shane said it was tough as one of the red team still has to go home.
Adro voted for Jo and made it clear it was for the right reasons and nothing personal. Jo voted for Adro and made it clear it was due to an alliance with Ruth and Christie.
Ruth was next to vote, Jo looked shocked when she was voted for by Ruth due to their alliance. Christie also voted for Jo and said that she loved her very much. Jo said "it's okay Christie" with a look of slight anger in her eyes.
Jo said that she doesn't want anyone to be upset with her leaving, nor should they feel bad about voting her off. Adro gave Jo a kiss on her hand and squeezed it. Jo seemed to be taking the fact she is going home quite well.
Jo said that she understand and appreciates her values. Ruth was asked how she feels about breaking a promise, Ruth said that it was painful. Ruth said she feels like she has sold herself out. Christie said she felt like "this big" and had about a 1cm gap between her fingers. Jo at this point left the room. AJ wished the red team well and hoped they wouldnt be in the elimination chamber next week.
The blue team gave commentary as the red team left the elmination room, working out that Jo was the person eliminated from the red team by her absence. Harry asked what happened and why Jo was gone. Tracy commented to the camera in an interview that she felt that Harry was upset that Jo was gone. Harry got stuck into Ruth who said that she didn't want to talk about it. Adro said in an interview with the camera it was a bit rich to criticise their weight loss due to the fact that a member of the blue team gained weight. Harry also got stuck into Christy for losing 1/9th of the weight she lost last week.
Ruth said that she didn't understand why Harry was attacking the mebers of the red team. Tracy said that she didn't know why Harry was acting towards the red team and that his views aren't the views of the red team. Ruth said she felt like she was spat upon by Harry.
The next day Jillian came into the main exercise room where everyone was exercising. Jillian noticed immediately there were 4 red team members and 6 blue team members. Jillian said that when someone leaves the house it's not as if they've died, they're practising what they've learned back at home.
Jillian asked each of the team members how they went, she was shocked at how much weight Shane lost. Jillian was pleased with everyones numbers, especially Cat's. Cat said that she was also pleased with her result.
Jillian announced to everyone in the room that they were going to see Bob. Cutting to later in the day, everyone was in the kitchen/dining area and Bob was lead into the room. Cat hugged Bob and said "we missed you heaps" to which Bob responded "I missed you a lot."
Bob talked about his mother with the contestants. Bob said he doesnt want his mother's death to be in vein and that he wants her legacy to live on and hopes her death can teach others to be healthy. Bob began to tear up talking about his mother with an interview with the camera.
Bob sat the blue team down in a circle and related his mother's death to their lives. Artie handed Bob an envelope with a piece of paper that read as follows:
"T o our mate Bob, we were all shocked and upset by the news of your recent loss." Bob at this point tipped his head down and was overcome by emotion."When we heard that you were to return to your blue team, it made us feel all that much more special. As a team we are here for you, as much as you are here to us. We are all that much better people already for knowing you Bob. All our love, the blue team."
Bob said he was lucky to have six new friends from Australia... his Aussie mates. Bob exclaimed "I've got Aussie mates! I officially have Aussie mates " Bob said he was comforted by his new Australian friends.
Jillian said that her strategy is now to spend as much one on one time with each of her team members. Jillian said that Shane is coming across nicely and his transformation is going to plan. Jillian said that she wants Christy to look like Linda Hamilton in Terminator II. She said she wants Christy to be able to do 100 pushups without stopping.
Bob was back for his first training session since he got back. Bob said this week is "no joke time" and that he will be placing each of his team on a very strict diet.
Bob said that Fiona has a lot of cardio to do this week and that the blue team is going to win the third weigh in in a row. Bob got each of his team into the plank position. Harry was in danger of falling onto Bob as he crawled underneath Harry to stop him from falling down.
Bob said he is going to do whatever he can to win the third weigh in to keep his six aussie mates together.
It was now time to see Jo's transformation. We cut back to the beginning of Jo's 108kg. Jo was shown running along the beach with her friend Julie. Julie said its great to see Jo's transformation. Jo said she now trains Monday to Saturday twice per day. Jo's boyfriend Paul said he was very much proud of her.
Jo watched her audition tape and could see what people saw in her before. Jo wants people to see how healthy she now is and not how skinny she now is. SInce appearing on The Biggest Loser, Jo has lost 16.5kg and dropped 3 dress sizes in 2 months. Jo returned to her old job that she had before she went onto the show.
DAY TWELVE - 24/02/2006 - WEIGH IN
It's now Friday which means it's the day we find out how much the contestants how lost throughout the week. The last chance training was hard work for both teams and Jillian couldn't work out why everyone was stuggling. Artie told Jillian how each team had to pull a Mack truck in yesterday's challenge.
Cat was again lambasted by Jillian for being slack on the bike. Jillian said she received an email from Bob. Bob wanted to tell everyone that what everyone had said to him and their messages touched him more than words can say. Bob wanted to say he would be coming "home" (Jillian used her fingers to gesture the quotes) soon. The blue team in camera interviews said how much they were touched by Bob's response and was touched how much they meant to him.
Fiona got in trouble for drinking custard. Apparently she had three tablespoons of custard that was left in the fridge from a dessert they previously had. The custard in question was a container of Paul's Trim custard. Apparently the blue team were prevented from eating dairy products by their trainer. Fiona threw the custard container in the bin when confronted by her team members.
Both teams walked into the weigh in room. Thoughts were aired with interviews with the contestants as they walked in. AJ again greeted the contestants. Blue advised they decided they would have Tracy sit out this week's weigh in.
Tracy was first to weigh in. Tracy at the last weigh in weighed 103.6kgs ( lbs) and now weighs 101.8kgs, therefore losing 1.8kg. This 1.8kg will not be counted towards the team's weight loss this week. Tracy was pleased with her weightloss, as at least it wasn't a weight gain.
Cat was next up on the scales. Cat started the week at 151.0kg and weighed in this week at 146.6kg. Cat this week has lost 4.4kg. Cat said that she was rapt with what she saw.
Harry was the third person to jump onto the scales. Harry started at 166.7kg and finished up this weigh in at 162.6kg, losing 4.1kg.
Wal was next to weigh in, after last week being the Biggest Loser. Wal weighed in at 161.2kg last week and this week weighed in at 157.5kg, therefore losing 3.7kg.
Artie was next to weigh in. Artie started the wek at 147.8kg, this week he weighed in at 144.8kg, and lost 3kg of weight.
Fiona was last to weigh in for the blue team. Fiona last week began at 94.8kg, this week Fiona weighed 94.9kg. Fiona has gained 0.1kg, making her the first Australian contestant to gain weight this series.

Adro was second for the red team to weigh in.Adro last weighed in at 128.8kg and this week the scales read 126.9kg. Adro said he was spewin as he lost only 1.9kg this week. Adro said he would have liked to have lost more, but by past Biggest Loser shows, the second week is the toughest.
Ruth was next to weigh in. Ruth last week weighed in at 150.4kg, this week she weighed in at 147.9kg. Ruth lost 2.5kg this week.
Shane was next up. Shane weighed last week at 145.2kg and this week came in at 140.6kg, losing 4.6kg. This weight loss seemed to shock the blue team. AJ told Shane he was the Biggest Loser so far this week, and if there was anything he wanted to get off his chest. Shane cheekily cupped his hands around his man boobs and said "these" and jiggled them.
The last person for the red team to weigh in is Chrisie. Christie last week weighed in at 95.4kg, this week she weighed in at 94.6kg. Christie lost 0.8kg this week. BLUE had won for the second week in a row.

AJ announced blue had won this week and that as Shane was the Biggest Loser on the red team, he would be immune from being voted off the program. Christie said in an interview with the camera that she was disappointed that Shane could not be nominated as this was going to be her choice.
DAY ELEVEN - 23/02/2006
Jillian began the show by reflecting on yesterday and how both teams took the news of the loss of Bob's mother. Jillian said that she doesn't want any one of the contestants to slacken off due to the departure of Bob and that she will train both teams equally as hard.
Jillian told Bob off for not using the handlebars on the cross trainer, the vision then showed later how she told Cat off for slowing down and stopping a few times on the exercise bike. Then the vision cut to Fiona stating "I can't do pushups" and Jillian disagreed with a stern "oh yeah, you can!"
Fiona and Jo were paired up. Jillian made Fiona do her pushups that she initially said no to. Jo was forced to encourage Fiona to do her pushups else she would have to do more herself. Jillian commented to the camera later in an interview that Tracey is 10 times more emotionally stronger than Fiona due to her age. Jillian said young girls struggle in the gym due for mental reasons.
Jillian wanted Jo to get in touch with her anger and get tough. Jillian had Jo do squat exercises after her pushups with Jo.
The contestants were taken to Oran Park Raceway. The contestants wondered in the voiceovers what was happening, some believing they were there to race cars.
AJ greeted the contestants as she stood on the racetrack in a black top with white outlines of flowers AJ asked the contestants what they think was going to happen, to which Wal retorted that he hoped that it was about himself and AJ in the spa. There was a spa on the raceway next to AJ filled with water next to some potted palms.
The winner of today's challenge would win a week's privilege of using the spa and the losing team was not allowed to step a foot near the spa. The winner of tonight's challenge would also have the privilege of choosing which blue team member would sit out this week's weigh in.
Jo from the red team and Cat from the blue team both said in an interview later with the camera they felt deciding who would be sitting out the weigh in to be the main prize on offer. Cat acknowledged that the red team had worked extremely hard and that this week's weigh in would be tough.
AJ said "for this weeks challenge, have a look at this" and gestured down the other end of the raceway. Two Mack trucks without any trailers hurtled down the track, managing to stop quite quickly about half a metre from where the contestants were standing. Some contestants took a step back when they got close.
Jo put two and two together after seeing the trucks and seeing the big thick ropes near by. Yep, the contestants will be pulling the trucks down the racetrack, a total of 400 metres. Two ropes were attached to each truck. Each of the contestants would have to take it in turns to drive the truck as the remaining team members would have to pull the truck along. There was a designated number of sections in the challenge and the truck needed to be pulled and stopped at each section, the driver would blow the horn and the driver changed and the truck would move once the horn is blown again. No one was allowed to drive the truck more than once.
Since red won the last challenge, they had the privilege of choosing which blue team member would sit out of the challenge. The red team chose Wal to sit out of the challenge. Wal was not allowed to touch the rope or any of the contestants during the challenge else the blue team would be disqualified.
Red team's strategy was to get Ruth first to pull the truck due to her knee. Both teams were stood behind the starting line on their respective sides. AJ then said "on your marks, get set... GO!" as she waved a green flag to start the challenge.
The red team had Adro and Shane at the front pulling the rope with Jo and Kristie behind them. The blue team had Harry at the front pulling with the team members pulling each of the two ropes. Both teams when they started pulling thought the hand brake was on due to both teams struggling to pull the trucks.
The blue team were in front fron the start with Big Wal's previous experience of pulling firetrucks, it seemed that they were moving their legs in synch. Both teams miscalculated the number of sections in the race, blue believed Harry didn't have to participate and so could pull the truck the entire length, red made the same mistake thinking Adro could be on the rope the entire distance also.
Red struggled without Adro on the ropes to pull the truck along and thusly failed the task. Blue won! So it's the spa and who will choose to sit out the weigh in. Blue dedicated their win to Bob and that they did it for Bob.
Wal was a good sport and told his team to give the red team a clap for doing well in the challenge. Red repaid the favour to blue when AJ announced that blue had won.
Back at the house, the blue team hopped into the spa and Cat made a large amount of water get displaced and pour out of the spa when she hopped in.
Red commented on their loss, stating the blue team overall didn't deserve to win. Red also commented that pulling the truck was bloody hard.
DAY TEN - 22/02/2006
At the beginning of tonight's episode the contestants were sat down in the garden by Jillian. She had to deliver the worst news she has had to deliver to the contestants in the history of the show. Jillian told the contestants that Bob's mother has passed away of a sudden massive heart attack. Jillian advised that Bob has needed to leave the show to bury his mother back in the United States. Jillian said that Bob wanted to pass on the message that his mother's sudden passing brings home what they are doing, that any one of them could also have a heart attack as being severely overweight can take a heavy toll on their bodies. Jillian told the group that Bob was devastated as the passing of his mother since she was relatively young and there were no previous signs of illness. Jillian told the contestants to think about their families and to put their kids in Bob's shoes and to think when they are doing the challenge that they are doing it for their families.
Jillian asked the group for their thoughts. Kristie was first and said that once she leaves the show, she wants to encourage her mother to lose weight and to support her. Jillian next asked Ruth what she was thinking, to which she immediately broke down into tears. Kristie said in an interview with the camera that Ruth's two children have been sick with heart disease in the past and have required open heart surgery. Losing a loved one from a heart attack is a very real possibility for Ruth. Ruth said whilst crying that she has almost lost her children so many times. Cat said to the camera later that her friends said before she went onto the show that her friends told her they feared for health, before they knew that she was going to be a contestant on The Biggest Loser. The death of Bob's mother has now brought Cat to realise that her friends weren't kidding and she could have died from a heart attack.
Jillian said that she would be training both teams together for the rest of the week. Tracey said that Bob is a very strong man and wanting to come back for the show shows how tough he is as a person . Tracey said that her heart goes out to Bob at this time. Jillian thanked the blue team for their understanding at this point.
We now see in an interview with the camera that Jillian is sporting a black armband. She says that seeing how Bob's loss has touched both teams will comfort Bob.
Jillian took both teams into the workout room and have everyone workout together. She had everyone doing the blank, Jillian came along during the move and was pushing down on some contestants backs and you could see the strain the contestants were under by their facial expressions. Jillian then had each of the contestants do twenty crunches
Cat complained to the camera later that Jillian seemed cruel with her training while Jo later said that Jillian's workout today was very intense. Jo said that she doesn't think the blue team realises what Jillian is like.
Next Jillian paired a blue team member with a red team member, she made the red team member and the blue team member take it in turns to do leg raises, while they held the ankles of the opposing team member for support. Harry said in a later interview that he definitely has worked harder under Jillian than he had under Bob.
Jillian said that her motivation for bringing the two teams to train together was for everyone to get to know each other. Adro was paired with Wal, and didn't seem to appreciative of as Wal didn't seem to be putting in his best effort.
Artie couldn't cope with the loss of Bob and related back to his mother and what he would do if he lost his Mum which he is very close to. Artie said the thought of Bob attending his mother's funeral while he worked out was disrespectful. Artie was taken outside and sat on a step in the garden with Tracey hugging him whilst Jillian attempted to convince Artie that what she is doing is Bob's wishes. Jillian said to Artie that with him not wanting to workout is sending the wrong message to Bob as he wants everyone to keep going in his absence. Jillian said in a half-serious tone that if he doesn't continue, she has orders from Bob to kill him and to get his ass back into the gym which she delivered with a smile.
Jillian was proud of how everyone handled today's workouts. She was glad that both teams were united and supporting each other She said that both teams needed to motivate each other and she felt that they did that today. It was strange though to see Jillian hug Artie.
Jillian sat everyone down and told everyone that each of them will be able to make a 10 minute call to their families at home. Kristie cried at the news and said she will be calling her husband and also can't wait to talk briefly to "her babies." Jillian said in an interview with camera it is entirely appropriate that they speak with their families at this time since.
Cat said that she will be ringing Jeff as she tried hard to hold back her tears Cat wants to tell her future husband how much she loves him. Cat wanted to thank him for allowing her to be at the house. Wal said that he had a tough decision to make between his wife and dial-a-pizza. Wal managed to get the first laugh out of anyone for the day.Wal said he can imagine getting a supreme pizza with his wife delivering it. It seems that the death of Bob's mother has made Wal appreciate his Dad as they haven't been close of recent times.
Jillian wanted everyone to tell their loved ones about how much they loved them, how much they missed them and how "bloody hard" that they are working out so that they can be with their loved ones for many years to come.
Wal made the choice to call his wife, but then changed his mind and decided to call his parents house instead. Wal had a quite funny conversation with his father. Wal's Dad asked him if he was still with the fat people, to which Wal replied yes Dad I still am with the fat people. Wal made a promise to see his family as soon as he leaves the house. Wal's father said that he saw the doctor and that he has some bad news, the bad news is that he is going to live until he is 100.
Adro was next to call, he made a call to his wife. Adro had a photo of his wife and child on the table next to him as he talked to his wife and baby. His little girl has given up her dummy while she has been in the house, which he was proud of. Adro was appreciative of being allowed the call.
Artie was next, he obviously called his beloved mother. Artie's mother said it sounded like Artie's voice had lost weight, which amused Artie. Artie told his mother that things are going well and that he will make her proud.
Next Kristie was on the phone to her husband Dave. Kristie was quite emotional on the phone to Dave and was also emotional talking about the phone call later in an interview with the camera. Kristie and Dave both told each other how much they love each other and Dave gave his wife some words of encouragement to encourage her to continue and push on.
Cat rang her fiancee Geoff. Cat said she wants to come home but she wants to continue with the compettion.Cat gave her fiancee some messages to pass onto the other members of her family.
The episode abruptly ended. The message in white text on black background read "In memory of Maria Catrina Copleland. 1935-2005"
I'd like to say on a personal note that my heart goes out to Bob in his time of need. It is tragic when any human soul leaves this earth as everyone has a loved one. Bob I hope that you find the strength to carry on.
DAY NINE - 21/02/2006
We began tonight's episode in a formidable fashion. Tonight the contestants as a whole would watch videos recorded especially by the US series two contestants of "The Biggest Loser" in messages of hope and inspiration. Also to come tonight, we were teased with a snippet of a swimming challenge that both teams would have to compete in.
Jillian began the show by talking to the camera to note her disappointment at losing the first week's weigh in and that it was time to knuckle down and get serious about things.
The red team began the episode in their team's gym. The team was plotting their success against the blue team. The female members of the blue team also were in their team's gymnasium working the cardio machines. Fiona stated in the voiceover/camera interview about that Cat's laziness has become a joke and that she and the other members of her team won't tolerate it. The male team members training outside also share the same sentiments, Cat continually asks others to fetch things for her and they are also now refusing to oblige. Artie also expresses his concerns for Cat as she lounges around when she is not working out and doesn't keep active outside of when it is absolutely necessary.
Fiona also is disappointed that Wal is still trying to play mind games with the other members of the team. She is concerned that Wal hasn't learnt from Bob's chat last week and is still continue to encourage others in the team to vote for certain people. Jillian said in an interview with the camera that the red team is very tight knit whereas the blue team are full of dissent ion.
Both red and blue teams were taken into the red team's quarters. Bob quite happily announces a delivery has been received from overseas while Jillian quite cheekily puts to fingers behind Bob's head while he is talking to the contestants.
First up on the video was "Seth" a contestant from the second series of NBC's "The Biggest Loser." Seth congratulated the contestants for participating on the show. A graphic on screen was shown of Seth's weightloss. Seth went from 132kg to 76kg thanks to The Biggest Loser. Artie said in an interview with the camera that he can relate to Seth and feels that if he can do it, than he can too. Seth said before The Biggest Loser, his life was in auto-pilot and he wasn't "living the moment" like he is now. In a camera interview, Harry said he also felt a connection with Seth, as if he was speaking to Harry personally.
Next was "Suzie" who also featured on the second NBC series of "The Biggest Loser." Suzie gave a shout out to the Aussie girls and Bob's blue team. She said sorry Jillian's team with a smug look. Suzie dropped from 103kg to 60kg with the help of The Biggest Loser. Fiona felt a connection with Suzie and could relate to the message she gave. Suzie asked everyone to take care of Bob. She said to the blue team that if you don't believe in yourself, then Bob believes in you that you can believe in yourself. Wal said in an interview with the camera that it was great to see the relationship that developed between the previous US contestants with their trainers. Wal hoped that he might be able to develop that type of relationship with Bob.
"Matt" was the final person to add his message of inspiration to the contestants. Matt won the second series of The Biggest Loser dropping from a starting weight of 154kg and finishing at 83kg. Matt reminded the contestants that the show isn't just about them, that it's about the people at home watching that will become inspired by their weight loss to do it themselves. Matt said those people they have inspired, they will never have the chance to meet, but they will play an important role in their lives to motivate them. Matt wished the contestants well and said that he hopes they can milk the opportunity and experience for everything that it's worth. Artie said in an interview with the camera that the interviews have helped and reminded him why he's there and what others have achieved before him.
Bob said it was great that the three finalists from the previous series of NBC's "The Biggest Loser." Bob said that the Australians have a lot of hard work still ahead of them and that they have yet to learn what hard work is.
The contestants were led to their next challenge in two vans. This time the challenge wasn't so secretive as the contestants were told to bring their swimming costumes and goggles to the next challenge.
The challenge was to fetch dumbbells one at a time that were located in baskets at the bottom of a 25 metre pool, out of the water and into another basket that was resting on some scales. There were three varsities of dumbbells, 3kg, 5kg and 8kg. The pool was setup so that the heaviest dumbbells were most further away and the pool was cordoned off with flags for each lane. The contestants in their respective teams were allowed only one team member at a time to retrieve one dumbbell at a time. The contestants had to take the amount of dumbbells equivalent to the amount of weight that they lost last week out of the water and onto the scales. Since the blue team were at a disadvantage having six team members to the red team's five, the blue team had to decide who would sit out the challenge. That person's weight would be deducted from the amount the other team members would need to retrieve from the pool. Cat was voted to sit out, she was told by her team members it was due to her knee in getting out of the pool. Cat was disappointed by this and stated in an interview with the camera that she feels "at home in the pool." The red team threw their 2 cents in later with Ruth and Jo both saying in an interview that they would have had Wal or Harry sit out the challenge.
In this challenge, blue needed to retrieve 48.8kg in dumbbells from the pool and red needed to retrieve 36.9kg of dumbbells from the pool. The prize on offer was a one hour massage for each team member by professional massage therapists, and if red one, they would have the power to decide which blue team member would sit out the next major challenge.
The red team's strategy was to pick the 5kg weights. The blue team's strategy was to head straight for the 8kg weights. Tracey struggled to pickup an 8kg dumbbell and had to go back and lift a 5kg weight from the bottom of the pool. Wal and Harry also both struggled to lift the 8kg weight from the bottom of a pool. Ruth said to the camera later that she found it hard to exit the pool.
Wal made a major blunder as he jumped into the pool and went and grabbed a weight before Tracey placed the weight she had retrieved in the basket. Because Wal didn't follow the rules, the weight he lifted from the bottom the pool on this occasion was disallowed. Shortly after this, red won the challenge. Harry said later that he was disappointed that Red lost the challenge. Later, the red team shared their own opinions later with the camera as to why the blue team lost the challenge.
Next we saw the red team getting their massages, the massages were provided to the red team in house by Mobile Healing Hands. Ruth said to the camera how much she loves massages and Kristie said how much she was longing for a massage in an interview with the camera. The show ended with a brief tease of the next episode. Tomorrow we will find the reason why Bob has temporarily left the show.
DAY EIGHT - 20/02/2006 - THE ELIMINATION
Tonight's episode began with a recap of events from last week and a promise to see the first contestant that's been eliminated and their progress.
We began the episode with last few minutes of the weigh in re-broadcast. Wal's monstrous weigh in was on display and his thoughts that we heard from Friday, we heard again for the second time.
We then saw the immediate aftermath of the weigh in. The red team was coming to grips with their personal triumphs but their team's overall failure which is resulting in one of the team going home.
Kristie shared her admiration for her team mates in the lounge of the red team's quarters. She became emotional as she told her fellow team mates that voting a member of the team off the show is the hardest thing she's had to do so far in her life.
The blue team in their quarters speculated on who they think should leave the house from the red team. Most of the blue team want Jo to go, I think Jo trying to get under the blue team's skin seems to be working.
Back with the red team, the red team members state why they believe they should stay one-on-one with the camera. Adro wants to stay for weightloss, motivation, strength and direction. Adro also wants to keep the promise he made to his family to come back a slimmer person. Ruth's reasoning for staying is health-related and that she wants to stay in the house for her children. David wants to stay in the house for the facilities and the training and help he's been receiving.
Shane also really would like to stay in the house, as he has yet to reach his goals he's set for while he is in the house. Kristie's reasoning for staying in the competition is to help herself, she always put everyone else first and now its her turn to focus on herself.
Several housemates were concerned for Dave as it has been revealed he has an injured leg that is preventing him from running/jogging and it is also preventing him from walking without pain. The camera showed a large bruise just on and below David's left knee that is the size of a green lettuce head. Adro stated his case to the camera for David staying as David has the most to gain by staying in the house, it appears that Adro doesn't feel that David can continue down the weightloss path "on the outside."
Jo very diplomatically said to Adro while sitting on a blue gym ball, that Dave is a great guy, but his knee is not going to get better any time soon. Ruth stated to the camera that David is like a brother to Adro as Adro has a brother that is quite similar to David. Kristie reminded us that the show isn't just about weight loss, and that it is also a game and that David is holding the team back. Adro again stated David's case for the team.
Adro stated that he might vote for Jo, Shane stated that he also might vote for Jo due to her lack of coordination. Ruth said that Jo is a drama queen and stated some of the reasons why Jo irks her.
The time was upon us when the red team entered the elimination chamber with their silver domes covering their plates containing the name of who each team member has voted for. AJ asked Jo how hard she worked this week and asked David about how close he has become to his fellow team members. David stated that the red team is just like a family, and that everyone has become fairly close. AJ also asked Shane how safe he feels at the present moment, Shane diplomatically replied that no one except Ruth should feel safe.
The first person to reveal who they have voted off is Kristie. Kristie voted for David. Jo revealed that she also voted for David out of concerns for his health and that of the team. Adro voted for Shane due to some of his personal characteristics. David voted for Jo, who seemed shocked at being voted for. Ruth revealed that she had voted for David, and became teary at announcing her reasoning. Shane was not required to reveal who he voted for.
David seemed expectant of the result. Several of the housemates expressed their sadness at the loss of David from the house when questioned by AJ. It truly was a sad moment to see David go and I can definitely see why Ruth and Adro shed a tear before David left the house. Before David left the room, he stated that the red team is still like a family and he then proceeded to give everyone two thumbs up with the parting message "go red team."
AJ announced that David is no longer a part of the game and stated to the red team to keep strong and wished them well for the rest of the evening.
The blue team confronted the red team in the main gym the next morning. Tracie expressed her disappointment with the red team in a confrontational manner. Artie also managed to put his two cents in, asking the red team "so you just based this on his injuries." The red team was quite rightly dismissive of the blue team's questions about David's departure. Ruth then stated shortly after that she didn't want to talk about their reasoning for David leaving any further. The blue team left the main gym and as Harry walked out, Shane said the jibe "blue is through." Harry replied with "good luck."
Back in the blue quarters, Tracie said that Ruth and Jo are the driving force behind the red team. Fiona and Wal pulled the team back into reality by stating that every week one person was leaving the house. Tracie said she was concerned for David that he won't be able to keep the weight loss going on the outside.
The camera cut back to Jo in the main gym with her team on the cardio machines, she stated that if David was on the blue team and they had to vote, they would have done the same thing. Jo said that the blue team cannot claim the high road from David departing the house. The camera zoomed out and showed Ruth and Jo holding hands across adjoining treadmill, in a possible showing of solidarity.
Back with the blue camp, Wal said that your friends will vote you off the house... it's the nature of the beast. Wal reminded the group that every week someone will be voted off, and that they are on a reality TV show. Harry said that he is now the heaviest person on the show, to which Wal responded "that means you're next to go" as he walked off with a laugh.
Jillian and Bob came to the house and visited their respective teams. Bob was ecstatic that his team won the weigh in. As he sat down to talk to his team he said "Bob did the job." Bob pointed at his team members and asked "how much?" referring to how much weight had they lost in the weigh-in. Bob grinned with a large smile with genuine surprise at how much each of his team members lost. He was especially proud of his "two little girls" Tracie and Fiona.
Bob gave Harry a high five after he told Bob he has lost 12.2kgs so far. He shook Wal's hand in adulation when Wal said he had lost 15.5kgs. Bob said to his team "those are really good numbers" in a slow yet ecstatic voice. Tracie said that she knows that everyone in the team has a lot more to give, to which Bob wholeheartedly agreed.
Jillian visited her red team and instantly knew that the red team had lost due to the absence of David. Jillian's first question simply was "what happened?" To which Ruth was the first to respond. Ruth explained how the red team had lost the weigh in and that a consensus to vote David from the team was made. Jillian stated she expressed understanding and respect as to why David was voted from the show. Jillian said to the camera in an interview that the team is "leaner and meaner" without David.
Jillian wanted to know how much each red team member had lost so far. Jillian expressed how pleased she was at how much Ruth and Jo had lost. When Kristie was responded to the question of how much she has lost, Jillian was in disbelief and said it couldn't be possible. Jillian said she was "shocked" at the amount of weight she lost and that she was "fascinated." Jillian said to the camera in a later interview that Kristie had lost more weight in a week than any female contestant that has competed on the show.
Jillian said that in the second week she will be harder and meaner and she didn't fail to live up to her promise. The red team were taken to the weights area and her female contestants struggled with lateral pull downs. Ruth seemed to be struggling with performing several standing back fly exercises and ignoring Jillian's instructions to continue when she dropped the bar. Jillian said in front-of-camera interview that Ruth does have quite a few psychological demons she needs to deal with if she wishes to succeed. Ruth collapsed into a heap on the floor and began crying which had Jillian offside. Jillian said not unless she was crying tears of joy after she loses all of her weight was she allowed to cry. Jillian ordered Ruth off of the floor.
Ruth raised herself from the floor, it almost appeared as if she was hyperventilating. Ruth's face was bright red at this point. Jillian asked Ruth what seems to be her issue, Ruth replied that there was nothing wrong. Ruth fell over, she was delirious and Jillian at this point calmed her down and slowed her breathing. Jillian said she was proud of Ruth as it seems she is now starting to push through the fear.
Bob took his blue team outdoors into the sunshine. Each of his team members was sitting on a cyan coloured yoga mat. Bob had each of his team members partake in a session of yoga. Harry said at the completion of the session that he didn't realise how hard yoga is and that he worked up more of a sweat doing yoga than working in the gym.
Back with the red team, Jillian states that for a change the guys in her team seem to be the fragile ones. She stated that she will be singling out Adro and pushing him hard as he was a lot of potential. Shane complained he was tired as he refused to pickup a barbell. The barbell had 4x5kg weights as well as a resistance band attached.
Shane said that he was scared of what he was doing in a moment of truth with Jillian. Jillian asked Shane why he hated himself as much as he does, Shane shook his head as if to state he didn't know. Jillian again repeated the question, Shane began to cry as Jillian spoke to him. Shane said his biggest fear is being "intimate" and that he thought he had to be strong for his family. Shane revealed his mental pain at the loss of his brother which still daunts him to this day. Shane said that sometimes he thinks he might be better off dead, Jillian at this point consoled Shane and provided him with an insight as to what she sees for him. Jillian stated that Shane's beard definitely has to go, to which he smiled.
Jillian said that her team has a lot of heart ( I think that's a favourite phrase of hers) and that they definitely are the underdogs.
The end of the program neared and it was time to show David's transformation thus far. The vision showed David returning home to a surprise party at his home. At the sight of his family, David placed his face up against the wall and began crying, at which several of his family members pulled him away and hugged him.
David said that being on The Biggest Loser has changed his life. Now two months on, David has his personal trainer each day, he walks each and every day. David has given up on alcohol and cigarettes. He also now eats a lot of salad and very little red meat and certainly no junk food.
David and his mother are certainly proud of his achievements so far. David was shown vision of himself at the beginning of the series, David said that he was quite large at that point and that he feared for his life.
In the two months since David has participated on The Biggest Loser, he has lost another 15.8kg and he has also shed 29cm from his waist. I personally would like to wish David the best in achieving his goals and maintaining his health.
